This is a story about a woman named Lucy. The one thing she wants more than anything else is a child. But because of her handicap she is unable to have one. Lucy visits a fortune teller, Lady Rene. She tells Lucy she can help her have a child, "but first, my dear, you must do something for me." That something leads a nice, average woman to do some illegal things. As for Lady Rene, she might have magical powers, and she might be mentally ill. It is also the story of the end of love. San Tropez moves from a fairy tale to a workplace to the cramped, narrow streets of the French Quarter in New Orleans, in the days before Katrina. It is written in a few different styles, in 27 short chapters, and it aspires to be engaging literature.
