A very personal journey from Dana Hardin Camp about her family's history. Professional genealogists tell people to start with themselves, but in books authors typically start with the generation most removed. Camp has done just the opposite, she starts with the most personal and than traces back to the first Luttrell immigrant. Along the way, she provides rich documentation about the Littrell family as will be seen in the extensive footnotes. People will enjoy the photographs, although they are not captioned. The thorough documentation and conversational narrative is enhanced by poems written by the author's mother, Elaine Hardin, who claims that this was only a recently discovered talent. If so, I hope she continues to write poems about what she knows best. The poems are an added bonus to an enjoyable and readable genealogy.

This is a wonderful book filled with memories, stories, poems, photos, research, but most of all family. You get a real sense about the people who were researched for this family history. It is more than a typical book of genealogy. It provides readers with a wonderful and enlightening tale of the Littrell family which has the foundation of extensive research! It is a wonderful read for someone who is interested in family history, or just someone who enjoys wonderful memoirs and reading about REAL people. I highly recommend this book to fiction and nonfiction enthusiasts and I will eagerly look forward to more works by this author.
