"A wonderful tale of travel and adventures" Reviewed by Kopek Publishing - Review: A great book, about the experiences of a young woman travelling the world on her own. Danica sets each scene with such vivid imagery, that I feel as though I have visited some of these places, and not just read about them. The book is written in a diary style, and I found Danica’s narrative light and easy to read. I must admit, when I was first sent this for review, I was a little hesitant. I thought it might be a bit too girlish for me. However, I’m very glad I agreed to review it. There’s no hiding that it is written by a woman, but that in no way detracts from the book for male readers. Unlike many other writers of the fairer sex, Danica is able to put her perspective across without it feeling overly female. I found that I quickly warmed to Danica, and was rooting for her when things looked bleak, and celebrating with her during the good times. ... More > The story starts with Danica setting off to Asia, she then travels through Europe, before hitting the Americas (plus Canada), and finally arriving back home in Australia via New Zealand. This is a journey that I’m extremely jealous of Danica for, something that I would love to do. The description of each of the towns and cities that she stays in are very well done, and written with a personal style that somehow makes them seem even nicer than they probably are. This is one of those books that you can easily dip into for just a few pages in-between chores. Within each chapter there are individual days, taken from Danica’s journal. Goodness knows how many of these she must have filled during her journey. Being from the UK, I particularly enjoyed the trips to England, it’s fun reading a foreigner’s view on your own country, especially when they visit just down the road at Cambridge. What I Most Liked: I enjoyed Danica’s light style of writing, this meant that despite the size of the book, it was never too heavy a read. Her descriptions of some of the places made them come to life, and it felt as though I was actually there with her. What I least Liked For its genre, this is a huge book. There were some places I was disappointed that there was not more description of the area. I do wonder whether it might have been better to produce it in two volumes, and then there would have been more of Danica’s vivid imagery to enjoy. Conclusion: I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys travelogues. It’s a must read for anyone who is thinking of doing an around the world trip on a budget, there are so many good tips that will make your trip so much more enjoyable. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that this is just another travelogue, Danica has so many adventures that at times it feels like a fictional story with characters.< Less

"Review from Sandra Sewell" I would also recommend this book, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, I have recently begun reading it for the second time. I found myself waiting for the next adventure, and think that Danica was extremely brave to embark on such a huge adventure by herself with limited funds. I would love to do a trip like this but would not be brave enough to even contemplate it on my own, or without some back up funds. I agree it is a huge book, but I didn't find the size daunting at all and I also agree that some of the places did come to life, and were well described. Conclusion: It is a must read for anyone planning a trip of this kind, or just enjoying Danica's adventures. I would not recommend doing a trip of this kind on such a shoe string budget, I found myself worrying about how Danica would afford her next destination.
