Protest meets plurality: how elite dissent affects media response to war justifications; Iraq 2003 case study

The plurality of the British print press has raised many questions about how Britain's role in foreign policy is perceived by the British public. From Suez to the Falklands, the Media's role in foreign policy and war reporting has come under scrutiny by academics and students alike. This dissertation seeks to analyse the British Print press during the build up to the 2003 Iraq War. Was the Prime Minister able to shape the media agenda and persuade the British newspapers that war in Iraq was justifiable? What role does elite and popular dissent play in affecting media content? What happens when protest meets plurality?
