This is a wonderful book and is a good read. The combination of Appalachian humor, accounts on grouse hunting, the emphasis on the need for environmental education and the challenges we will all face one day should make the book very interesting to about anyone interested in Appalachian culture, hunting and the great outdoors. Having lived in Eastern KY for seven years, I hunted numerous times with Briar and Danny. Many of the episodes described about Dead Eye, Big Penny and others are actually more fact than fiction. I made several tracks behind Briar and Danny and treasure the memories of one of the best grouse dogs I ever followed and a great friendship that I will appreciate until I cross over, hopefully to become enlightened and join my close friends and hunting companions.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED This is a very well written book that details some of the life stories of the author and his love for the outdoors, particularly grouse hunting. The book has a very clever and unique twist, as it is narrated by the author's grouse dog, Briar, and told through his eyes, and words. Briar will have you laughing and crying through his stories in a book that you can't put down. It is extremely refreshing to see how moments in Danny's life were etched into life long memories, and how those experiences shaped not only his life, but so many others as well. When I finished the book, I realized that it was sparking a reflection of my own life, and how the "really" important moments can fly by un-noticed unless you take the time to let them happen, and see them for what they are worth. We have all become so engrossed in our day-to-day challenge to do more, and do it faster, that we are letting what the author describes as "4-D" moments go un-noticed. If...
