Danielle Sainte Marie has written a 500 page book "Pride (I am Self Identified!) where the content has not been stretched out for Lesbian, Gays,Transsexual communities. She discusses both her own struggles and the larger context. Some parts of the book are technical advice for her own community. It is also a very good book for general audiences, and would be good as a required or optional book for many kinds of college social science courses. Her struggle is a moving story beyond any fiction. But in a larger context is she is not really alone at all. One of the things I got out of the book is there are real documented genetic reasons that often explain how people think and feel rather then environment alone. I have always known there are two sexes but was clueless that there are more genders then that. She also talks about genders and sexual orientations over time and other cultures. She is a very good teacher, story teller and personal adviser and even life coach. The mark of a... More > great teacher and speaker is they can make complex and controvesial subjects far less difficult to understand. She succeeds beyond any expectations. Anyone reading the book will come away a more enlightened and happy person. I did. She is a major menace to hate as I can't imagine anyone hating her who knows her from the book. Once anyone likes one particular person it would be impossible to hate and entire group and liking one suggests others may be nice people.< Less

Hi Everyone! I am a Utah resident and frequenter of the Utah Pride Center; I have marched in the parades and am a proud, gay woman with affectional orientation. I am a full time author and poetess, and my latest book, Pride (I am Self-Identified!) is available for all to purchase! It has everything I have ever had to say on the subject of self-authenticity! At over 524 pages, there is a lot to read and learn! As a teen who grew up under severe religious oppression, childhood abuse, homelessness, and managed to overcome drugs, depression (and several suicide attempts), I wanted to give something back to all those struggling to find happiness in a world that often feels chaotic. This book is the book I wish I would have had at 16, but did not. So, I wrote it! Please, share this information with all!
