This is the sequel to A Glimpse to Open... Danielle Sainte-Marie is an international, award winning poetess, who has been hailed by many as the greatest living writer of her generation. Her uncanny knack for metaphors coupled with a brilliant mind and deep insight into the structures of life, always produce art with the highest standards of æsthetic quality. Her work evokes in the open vessel of a reader a sense of beholding a radiance that is transcendent of any understanding. As she is fond of saying, "The question is the answer." Reading a book by Danielle, one must be ready for the journey of a lifetime, and then some. Her work often promotes an arrest of the senses, whereby time seems to slip away, and the reader finds a riddle layered within a riddle, like a hyperreal contradiction that finally melds into a deeper reality. Enjoy this book of poems, and read it slowly, by candlelight...

A Glimpse to Open Pt II is like trying to write a review of a Sandro Botticelli painting. I could write a review of a good work. But am at loss for words with a great work. A Botticelli is something a wide range of people can appreciate. A Glimpse to Open Pt II blows away anyone from an intrepid reader of great literature to someone who might find the book lost on a bench by random chance in the unlikely event some one would loose it. Loosing this book though is as likely as loosing a wallet or handbag. Some of the authors I have enjoyed over time are Jack London, Nietzsche,Dostoevsky,Michel Focualt and now Danielle Sainte Marie. She is as accessible and fun as London and beyond Foucalt in terms of richness and complexity. She can be both the first step and the last word.

If it is a gentle, frolic into the world of poetry that you seek, read no further. For those who dare, Danielle Sainte- Marie has produced (in my humble opinion) her best work to date. A Glimpse to Open Pt. You (II) forces the reader to challenge all that they feel is "real" and "right". It is evident that the Muse who guides Danielle's pen is a cruel task mistress for the poems are at once stark, heavily laden with dark imagery at times, and quickly "smack you in the face" to wake you up from being one of the sleepwalkers of this world. At the same time, you cannot help but be drawn into her love affair with the written word. The dance of the words across the page seems as if they are so truly connected and are in reality, making love to one another in their entwined dance of literary delight. Settle into your favorite reading spot and have a dictionary at your side for some of the words she uses are archaic and may be unfamiliar to the reader. Stopping... More > to look a word up only adds character and understanding to the breadth of the multiple meanings that her words supply. Your essence will thank you for it! A Glimpse to Open Part You (II) and other literary delights can be found on Danielle's website at under the "Works" link. ~Dr. Ann Oxyer (Sent to Danielle Sainte-Marie.
