Dead Black Bird in a Furnace is an incredible book. Danielle Sainte-Marie speaks like music and can conjure paintings in your mind. This book is on the sublime and it is. Some of the best work I have ever read. Part is prose that she shares aspects of her extraordinary life. You can learn from obstacles she has overcome to become a genuine hero in the game of life. Her poetry combines humour with edification. The best teachers do it that way. Her book is difficult to put down and is a real keeper She sometimes works 100 hours a week to craft her works for your enjoyment for modest price of a book. Her work is highly original, still she pays tribute to a long list of the worlds finest poets at the end of the book. Who knows what doors lie hidden in plain sight in that list?

‎"I am of the opinion that this is Danielle's best work to date. She read many of the poems to me for the first time last night. There was no stopping the tears. The intensity of the emotional pain comes through with full force. It may be a tough read, but for anyone who has had emotional trauma it is likely to be cathartic, and ultimately very healing. Danielle's genius truly shines here." ~Dr. Chloe Jennings-White
