Monkeyhead is a tale of the basis and continuum of fear, and how humans discover its roots and the techniques of its uprooting, or embracing. A broad scope of modern time and ancient tribal instincts braid calamity and humans together in ways they are not aware of until mass extinction threatens the underpinnings of human thought. The root of civilization is examined in all of its horrors and its joys, as are many of history's most beloved myths and causes. The roots of religion and science are torn apart and put back together again, so that humans and animals can once again become actual living things which understand and are aware of their differences, and what those differences mean. Monkeyhead is a book about angels who are not spiritual, or good or evil, and about monsters that are beloved by the wisest of all living things. Monkeyhead challenges all that you have ever believed in, or lived for. Monkeyhead is merciless in its discovery processes. It will change the way you... More > want.< Less

Mar 28, 2013Poets have penned novels before. However, let this be said, first and foremost - this is not your "typical" novel as written by your "typical" poet. This is a previously unknown and unmarked entrance into the realms of dark matter, beyond those places where the very idea of time may reach - yet, there is still sunlight to be reckoned with, the actions and inactions of Mankind, their notions of good and evil, their understanding of boundaries, which will surely be severed and redrawn using a very different compass. The title alone invokes both humor and terror. The visual implications are enormous and one opens the door with both caution and curiosity while praying the wind will not put out the flame of the single candle one is holding. The only weapon we carry, the only hope we have, is our own humanity - not as we have known it to be, but how it should have always been, how it might have been, given the power of true personal freedom. It is a study of evolution... More > and anarchy, as well as an acknowledgment of how far we have fallen from purity and clarity, how far we have strayed as a species from the path of enlightenment. Our many strengths have fed the gluttony of our weaknesses, just as our weaknesses have caused us to nurture our strengths. There are examinations which reflect upon the very nature of our world, the results of cause and effect. Herein lies an eccentric mixture of philosophy, spirituality, compassion, faith, ignorance, greed, selfishness and doubt. The solidity and fluidity of various ideologies possessed and suppressed within themselves by each man, woman, child - even individual nations - and the impact of attempts to impose their own bias and definitions of these things upon another. How much there is to know, how little we have learned. Revolutions are not usually born within a single moment, but over a segment of time and caused by numerous events. This novel will change the way you view your world, beginning with its first sentence and continuing far beyond its final line. — Wanda Lea Brayton, author and poet< Less
