To have been included in such a volume, let alone have it dedicated to me, is an honor of high magnitude. Mr Beatty never fails to intrigue, astonish, amaze, and even befuddle me with his transcendent poetry. How many wars are enough? How does blue taste? How deep is love? How many miles deep will your mind, your heart follow a poem. Danny answers questions you never thought to ask, paints vistas, both internal, and external, that you never imagined. If you have read him before, you will be waiting for this, if not, I envy you the treat of a first exposure to poetry that will change the way you see the world. Rob Ganson

There is a duality in all things, an opposition, a reversal - with light, there is darkness; life/death, dusk/dawn, on/off, offense/defense, good/bad, right/wrong. innocence/cynicism. Without the mirrored reflection, our vision would be tainted and impure. We would not appreciate the gift as much without knowing it may, one day, be taken away again. That knowing does not lessen the significance of the giving, nor does it diminish the time we had it within our grasp. Danny Beatty's writing acknowledges this concept in many different ways, the physics, geometry and craftsmanship honed from a variety of perceptions and angles, a re-definition of the term "point of view". His tenderness can be brutal and his apparent brutality can be tender, as well. Beneath the scream of rage, there is a murmur of contentment. Between each line, there is a nascent silence, one which causes his readers to ponder the totality of their own lives and wonder if the bargains and barters they made... More > with survival were worth it...if not, his words may empower them to change their circumstances, to alter their every breath, to give them will and might, until they are finally satisfied with their all-too brief moments upon this earthly plane. One may think I am biased, and perhaps I am, to some small degree. My position has always been thus: I met the man because of his words and I married him because he could back them up. Three years later, the proof is still there. He is inspiring, bright, bold, brilliant and wizened. His innocence is palpable and his anger is just. His writing is profound, eloquent, provocative and elegant. His talent is undeniable. His writing holds truth for the ages of man - it is classical, timeless, eternal. It is symbiotic and its internal rhythm, its symmetry, becomes obvious when one turns the very first page and begins their very own evolution. It is inevitable. - Wanda Lea Brayton author of "The Echo of What Remains Collected Poems of Wanda Lea Brayton"< Less
