Disquieted Echoes Was ASTOUNDING. When I first opened the book I was like muttering to myself another paranormal book, But I was wrong this book shook all my beliefs and made me think of what's really out there waiting. I'm a Christian lady , Church going, God fearing and what amazes me is that your whole belief system is shattered when you read what Satan is capable of doing. THE FATHER WAS A HORRIBLE MAN. First, the negatives. There are none.! Okay, now to the positives. The plot, the characters, the stories, the writing... All amazing. The author has created something truly great, depressing and sinister, dark and extremely Scary. I had never read anything by Daryl Owen before, but based solely on this book Disquieted Echoes, he has been added to my personal top 5 list of horror, paranormal authors. The Hairy Man story was something beyond imagination, if I read the book again, If I READ THIS BOOK AGAIN, I will skip that chapter, No way will I ever read that again. It's just too... More > frightening. This is the first book that I have ever been inspired to write a review for. Some reviewers say that they cannot put a book down, once they get started into it. I have not understood this compulsion until last night, for the first time I had a hard time sleeping. I stopped reading sometime after midnight at a point in the book that left me anxious about the main character and was unwilling to disturb my husband by turning the light on or getting out of bed to pick up where I had left off. But I did, as I sit alone in my living room continuing to read, the feeling of not being alone in the room was overwhelming, never wanting to look up to see what's there, shadows forms out of the corner of my sight, I would quickly glance over and see if that's my husband, there is nothing. Around three thirty in the morning I finished the book, closed the book took a deep breath and went to bed and laid their eyes wide open gleaming at my husband, at one point I blinked and realized it had been sometime since I had blinked because my eyes where dry. Disquieted Echoes was disturbing.< Less

You know you are in the hands of a spell binder when you start a book at 7 pm., before dinner, and suddenly realize 150 pages later that you have been reading for three hours and that you have not yet eaten anything and that you are still in your work clothes. This was my experience. I savored the book throughout and didn't want it to end. I actually tried to ration my reading so that I wouldn't finish it too quickly! When I first picked up the book, I wasn't sure I should read it at night, bad mistake. I relate this book to a Ouija board now its dark and cold in my kitchen and things are not normal, sounds I haven't heard before and creaks up stairs above my head, maybe just my imagination but it's very uncomfortable. First of all, I will date myself. I have been around the paranormal Conspiracy genre for over 30 years. I have close friends who knew of the church, they In fact, have it on good source that the church was a huge cult in the 70's and 80's it was what was known as a... More > "legion maker " meaning they could brain wash people pull them in and have them serve a false God, while doing Satanic work. if you where a member and had seniority serving there God, well These folks had special privileges in Satan's legions and should never be taken lightly. The overwhelming sadness of this books will hit you hard. If you never read another book in your life, this is one you must read and believe every word, or regret it beyond all imagination, This well written book presents numerous well documented events of satanic supernatural contact with ghosts, and demons. It's an inspiring reminder of the Satanic, demonic world we have in this life. My favorite parts in the book is the hairy man and the troll, scary. thank you for the goose bumps and the insomnia now. This book will change your life. It is one of the scariest books you will ever read and will touch you deep at the core of your soul. You will know as you read it that Disquieted Echoes is real, This book will bring you to your knees and you will pray for God's forgiveness. I pray for the authors family as I'm sure they are burdened and tormented for the truth that this book has told.< Less

I just finished reading "Disquieted Echoes and I absolutely LOVED it. I couldn't put it down. I've spent the last two days gasping for breath, feeling a very eerie feeling as if someone were watching me, dreaming dreams where my feet would be stuck in muck even though I was trying to run away very fast from something, and fearing for my very life. I love when an author can bring you inside the story like this! And I haven't slept for more than a couple of hours a night because I couldn't put this book down and it kept me drawn inside it and would not let me go. And I LOVED every minute of it! Now that I am done, I feel my breath finally returning, and I can let you all know that if you love paranormal thrillers Satanic Images, Creatures from afar this is an excellent book, five stars, for one of the best paranormal thrillers I have ever read. This is a newer author, and after reading this, I can hardly wait to see what's next, Hurry...!!!

There are variations here on what defines a "thriller." Don't be prejudiced by your own definition of the term -- read this with an open mind to the possibilities of ghosts, paranormal activity and the Satanic abuse of small children, it delivers an evil, dark, and chilling volume of stories, it was spectacular, The book is good fun for longtime thriller and paranormal fans, But my question is how did they survive..? After reading the book at least 2 times I finally caught on , Satanic worship of the worst kind. you read a dramatic dark or moody ending of one story and IMMEDIATELY start reading the introduction to the next story. and it's just as bleak and obscure as the last one, but you want more, I started reading disquieted echoes around 11pm its dark outside, got my dog and my cigarettes. by 2:30AM Well into the book, I'm hearing someone else's voice in the room with me , whispers in the dark, this is not COOL...!! My dog is growling in every direction of my home even... More > she is uncomfortable. I'm going crazy. this is crazy.! I tried to close the book, and walk away but I'm frozen in my in chair, my eyes are darting back and forth looking for whatever there are creepy sounds, and the dark whispers I'm hearing, OMG, my dog can hear them too..! Damn It....I'm truly alarmed. I wrote this review because I believe that Disquieted echoes is downright startling. It's is so awesome. It would make a great movie or TV series. I would love to see this in action. My warning to readers, not for the weak hearted, you will be unnerved. Don't read it ALONE...There are a few stories that really make the hair stand up on your arms, felinelia, chilling. the one that tops the scale is the Hairy man, OMG, No way.< Less

During one of those endless nights when I just couldn't put Disquieted Echoes down, I wondered: "Why aren't there more books like this?" Daryl Owen has created one of those most deeply involving and satisfying true stories out there. In only one books, he has told of real characters involved in the horrors of religion. This is not your daddy's fantasy novel. Because the characters are so complex -- you loathe the father, and then a moment later you feel such sympathy for the kids. -- it is easy to keep the pages turning to find out what happens to them all. Who will survive, and who won't.. There's so much to be recommend in the story (and my fellow reviewers cover plenty, so I need not repeat it), but I agree that the trips into the world of the spooks and satanic rituals was definitely a wild ride. It made terrific short stories, campfire tales for sure, but who would read it outside in the dark, NOT ME.- I've noticed that there's been an increased interest in the macabre... More > lately and this is one to read. If you're looking for solid, character-driven, consistently entertaining a very dark book that has more heart than several other books combined, Read it, it will SCARE you. As a result, my hopes are incredibly high for a sequel, maybe a little too high. I would be to afraid to write a second book. Gripping, well-taut storytelling, Owen knows how to raise the hackles on the back of his reader's necks and keep them ripping through the pages. Vivid and graphically exciting. Causes the imagination to create the movie in your mind. Hoping that the ending is just as good, but this is superb. The secrets the church kept, secrets your father kept, are of much Importance: Types of secrets: power, curses, influence and the most important is he could bring demons from the darkest place. his methods to ensure secrecy are why now you are haunted, you know of the secrets and choose not to use them. This is the first book that I will not own, to afraid to have it in my library.< Less
