Anatomy of Violence is my favourite book of David McCalden's. It is the story of a man trying to put his past behind him but later his life falls apart when his wife leaves him and then his past catches up with him in a significant and painful way. An imaginative and colourful write, the main character quickly becomes alive under the author's skilful pen and we find ourselves very much involved in his life and can't help feeling for him through his struggles. Don't be put off by the title; there is violence in it, yes, but it is important to the story and to understanding Edward, the main character and the dilemma he faces at the end of the book.
