Ireland In Watercolour is a portfolio of 57 'En Plein Air' images by Irishman David Gilhooley, The Guinness Artist.
Every painting has been done 'on the spot' in all conditions and you can actually see the raindrops on some of them!
David ingeniously utilises any water based element to hand - from fresh snow and pure, dripping rainwater to Irish bog water, lavender water and even Guinness. All have been put to good use, enhancing the very root of the subject matter.
Having criss-crossed 15 counties on his travels, David has sought some obvious and not so obvious images for his unique collection.
As a picture book it is easy on the eye. Enjoy!

This is a truly lovely collection of watercolour paintings with a wide range of subject material, from dramatic landscapes to beautifully drawn buildings of great character. The artists' use of media ,such as rainwater and Guinness ,is both unusual and effective and he conveys his love of Ireland with every brush stroke . Treat yourself to a copy, you will not be disappointed.
For anyone who loves irish Landscape, or has family living abroad , this is a lovely gift, i can fully vouch for the fact that the artists paint on site and in all sorts of weather as they have painted on our farm at Ballycross, Wexford a few times in the rain, under umbrellas .
