Kingdom of Ten

ByDavid J. de HaanCristina Rolo

This is a wonderful story full of imagination while attempting to expand a child’s mind to use creativity to make numbers be a friendly companion on the road to easy math. The main character falls into a daydream. She finds out that she has landed in a magical world where she is gigantic. Everything around her is made of numbers. She comes in contact with some very interesting individuals whom could definitely use her imagination to solve the wicked witch’s curse. This story can function as a good analogy and baseline where a child can be big, like adults, and find out that using your imagination can help with overcoming challenges to change them into fun and exiting adventures. The author invites teachers, parents to go ahead and adapt this story as they seem fit while reading to their children. It’s the author’s opinion that when adults (re-)learn to use their imagination they will benefit in their personal growth and inadvertently also teach/show that imagination is key to overcoming challenges in life.
