Jul 25, 2011I think that a lot of times in life, we tend to make things more complex than they really area. Dave gets to the meat and potatoes of what will make you succeed in marketing. A lot of the material can be applied not only to business, but to all aspects of your personal life. After all, we communicate all the time, at work, and at home.
Jul 7, 2011The first chapter really 'hit the nail on the head.' The author talks about "You first" and how you have to focus on if you really want to change things when it comes to your business. People make so many excuses why their business isn't doing well these days including but not limited to the economy, rising prices and competitors. You have to be willing to build a plan to change and improve. You also have to implement that plan and make it happen. This book gave me real life examples that showed real world application of strategies and tactics. It also gave ideas to increase sales and generate new customers. And the one that I thought to be one of the most important is management and leadership techniques to get the most out of your resources (employees/personnel). And not only did I learn all these things but the author put it into words that I could understand.
Jan 26, 2011The book’s title intrigued me but I wasn’t sure what was in store for me. What a refreshing approach to the world of marketing, selling, business and even life in general. I enjoyed the stories and examples of practices and techniques that help mold a successful leader in the business world. From Apple to AFLAC to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the author utilizes a vast array of topics and storylines to make his point and ultimately help the reader get where he wants to go!

People inclined to business and people working to achieve success will also definitely like this book. I only just started to work. I always ask myself will I just be always an employee or can I be the boss of my own business as well? The book explained everything about personal and professional growth. It gave tips on how to prioritize and manage your time so that you can achieve goals you have set for your business or the company you were employed. Communication is part of our everyday life. In this book, it didn't only explain ideas how to improve your interaction with your boss, employees, family and colleagues, it also provided strategies on how you can convey your message and make an impact to a certain organization. Marketing, management and leadership which are very important in the business world were also discussed. What I liked most about the book were the given instances and situations... More > that really happened in our modern world. These real life examples can help us apply them in our own lives and teach us strategies and tactics that can make improvements. Such improvements will definitely make us more successful in any field that we are right now. Many of these examples were those companies which are actually mindful on the voice of their customers. That being said, the customers or the target audiences can give feedback to improve your services and deliver better customer experience. Overall, the book is beneficial for everyone who likes to succeed and achieve their goals. This is a good self-help book to achieve personal and professional growth.
