Jun 17, 2016Let me start by saying that I had the pleasure of working alongside David a few years ago. My abiding memory of our time together was the continuous and sometimes hilarious stories that he told regarding human behaviour. All the stories were pertinent and interesting and always somehow related back to a book or a management theory. I learnt over the year that we worked together that David was an ambassador of leadership, such was his passion for the subject. Leadership is an enormous subject and one that I find fascinating and frustratingly hard to grasp such is the breadth of knowledge and opinion on the subject. What David has achieved in this book is singularly impressive. As an author I know how hard it is to tackle a large topic without being totally consumed by it and paralysed to a point that you do not know where to start. I have found in my own experience that only through truly knowing your subject can you navigate around it with sufficient dexterity to write a book worth... More > reading. In Leadership - a formula for success, David has accomplished something I have not seen in any other leadership text I have read in my 25 years of management; he has managed to cover a veritable smorgasbord of theory with a light fingered dexterity only a master of the subject can do, and he has managed to do it in an entertaining and informative way. Many of the topics in this book are, on their own, heavy reading in the source texts, but David has managed to make them relevant by showing how they operate in the context of other management theories on the subject and brought them to life with real life examples. If you are looking for a source text on the subject of leadership, this book should form a foundation block in your reading library. You should not underestimate what you can learn from this book, it is easy to read and entertaining, and that is its secret; you will glide through the pages absorbing page on page of good sound tried and tested advice. You will learn things that you can put into practice immediately that will improve your leadership skills. I recommend this book without hesitation.< Less
