Incandescent: An anthology of Irish Poetry
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Davide de Garis grew up through the worst of the Troubles in Ireland. He wrote reflective poetry on topics that include everything from life as a teenager at school, coping with the need to study and fit in with the social groups, through to the desire to leave school when the exams were over, and then begin his life.
There are a number of poems that provide interesting and insightful social and political commentary in some of what he saw going on around him throughout the Troubles.
In common with a lot of young people growing up through their teenage years, the poet struggled with the question of love, and whilst there are hints of happier times with a girl he identifies, by the time the poems were being written this relationship has turned sour, resulting in a series of poems that are black and depressing by their nature as the poet struggles to understand and come to terms with what he has experienced and what this may mean for him and the future.
