A journey through an English Country Village 1880-1956, November 12, 2014 By Pat Ellis - This review is from: Aynhoe Village Life: The Way it Was, Then, Before And Beyond (Kindle Edition) Aynhoe Village Life - the way it was - then, before and beyond by Dawn Griffis was a real trip into the history of this little village in Northampton (Cotswolds/Oxford). Dawn manages so well to incorporate her life as a child in Aynhoe (Aynho) whilst taking you on a journey through the Village houses - even down to the descriptions of the furniture at the time. A very thoughtfully written Memoir - You can sense how difficult life could be at times and you can also 'get' the humour which is all part of village-life, the characters are real and you never doubt it. So clever how the author is able to 'introduce' you to members of her family - her forebears and villagers - the descriptions really are very good. I would recommend this Memoir - its a very informative book. Thank you. Pat Ellis
