A REVIEW WRITTEN BY ALLEN VERSTEEG As the poet grow through the phases of life his creativity drives him from subject to subject and sometimes fixation sets in just to be surprised by the next canvas that he completed. He discovered the secret of life in an onion. As he peals the skin he discovered another layer of secrets to be revealed. The facinating thing that I discovered is that the poem is not limited to a two-plane colour vision but have the ability to play in all the thinking realms of life. He discovered the smells of the kitchen, he painted the colours. When he enters into the molecular world with all its natural beauty and discipline you can delve with him on the question on how is it possible that life can live between the arrangement of clinical atoms. The best way to enjoy the poems with the poet is to climb with them in a nice warm bath and let the water in this primal state of mind take you into the deep ocean of the spitual being and be hacked by the virus of the... A highly enjoyable journey into the realms of life with a spice of humour for flavour. Best wishes Allen Versteeg< Less

The second section "Grasping my pencil with my toes", contains poems that explore reality and being much like the poems in the first section, but they all have a humourous core. Humour is employed as yet another way of attacking the hard shell of reality and penetrating into deeper meaning. The third section "Rhyming hunger with the right to live", explores our threatened ecological systems and the beings that inhabit our environment. The fist poem "Releasing the rock", is... The "poeson" is a concept that De Waal Venter has developed and which he employs when writing poetry. It can be described as a methodological tool in the poet's arsenal.
