eBook (ePub)
(46 Ratings)
Price: $4.67
Meet the fastest men on the streets or race tracks – Drag Racing, Hot Rods, Stock cars, Demolition Bangers, Touring cars and Formula Fords. In this unique volume, crime and street racing author Dean Rinaldi gets up close to the country’s most notorious street racers. He exposes what drives these men to build, modify and race on the streets at speeds over 150mph! For some it’s simply gaining respect, proving who has the fastest car, whilst for others racing on the streets or the track has defined their lives. Each of the Street Racing Legends has a different tale to tell, yet one of the things they have in common is that from an early age they were driven, with relentless passion, to build and race their modified cars on the street before venturing onto the race tracks. Many have gone on to win National, European and World Championships. Their unique stories will astound, amaze and entertain in equal measure!

I'm a big reader of crime, cars and wherever possible the street racing scene. Dean Rinaldi, in my humble opinion, has created a true 'Diamond in the Rough'. The writing style is pitch perfect for the genre and boy has he done those legends justice. Full marks!

The last book I read was Catcher in the Rye by JD Sallinger around 25 years ago. However I just couldn't stop reading the magnificent collection of true stories about our very own street racing legends. I don't remember ever not being able to put a book down. As soon as Ive finished writing this I'll be downloading those notorious South London Boys 'The Harris's' by all accounts another great read by Dean Rinaldi' who knows maybe I'll be reading War & Peace within a year.... not!

A truly fabulous read! I ran with the City Boys back in the 80's when we raced our Porsche 911's against the clock around the M25. It all flooded back to me when I read the pseudonym's 'Mach One's' feature. In fact I knew Mach One albeit by his real name from the meets at Grays Essex, nice guy and I had no idea he was a professional 'getaway driver'. One things for sure...you'd never get away with racing the M25 in under an hour now! Britain's Street Racing Legends by Dean Rinaldi is an absolute must read for anyone with the slightest interest in cars, racing or just taking liberties with the law.

Compulsive reading, really hard to put down. I really enjoyed every story, maybe not so much Bryan Whitfields as it was Stu Valance who built and showcased Henry Hi-Rise. There really should be a sequel, include a few current legends, write a little more about the whole Oldskool Ford revival and some of the incredibly quick Escorts out there. Yeah and Paul Morton's street storming Mk1, I'd buy it, damn I'd buy two if it helps to get it written!

Brilliant book, loved it from beginning to end. Ian Hook, his team and that 34 are the business and in my view No1!!!
