I loved this book. Personal recollections of Meehan's life and times, times that I, being of a certain age, remember and brought back so vividly to me. But it's her refections on those times that give the book it's depth and significance, all beautifully tied together in her bridge walking metaphor - as she walks of the bridge her observations of the natural world around her give rise to memories which she recounts and then examines in the context of her life now. I admire her openness and her ability to find meaning in her life experiences, experiences which are pretty interesting all by themselves. I have given this book to friends as gifts and have gotten very positive feedback from all. So read and enjoy!

I so enjoyed this book! Meehan is reflective, brave and a bit philosophical. I like essays as a genre, but most especially when they all hang together thematically the way those in Bridge Walker do. A memoir is certainly an extension of ego. A well-written interesting one makes you think about your own life, choices and the wisdom you have garnered over the years. Come and walk the Ponquogue Bridgewith Meehan. You will be the richer for it.
