A mysterious “Chief” has his plans all laid out, from Nigeria to the U.S.A, after years of careful work. Now, his finger is on the trigger for millions of dollars, fruits of his long and risky labour.
Along comes Jamike Nnadozie, a former policeman, prematurely cashiered from the Force. He is driving home from a late night party and, suddenly, a strange girl jumps in the way of his moving car, in a clear suicide bid, and succeeds. The body of the dead girl is left in the mortuary while Jamike and the police try to solve her riddle. The following morning, Jamike discovers that the mortuary attendant is stabbed to death and that the corpse of the strange girl has disappeared.
Before now, Jamike always thought of himself as pretty hard boiled and so did those who had done business with him. However, when Jamike starts digging and the circumstances and realities of this mystery girl’s case start tumbling out in quick, macabre succession, he wishes he had let sleeping dogs lie.
