Grandma's Tales

Bydi Hajrija (Maria) Seferovic

This booklet tells of a culture that can’t be found in anthropological texts, but which lives on a daily basis in this area North East of Milan. In short, for once it doesn’t talk about the things that they need (or rather that they have every right to) but of what they can teach us right now if they had the chance, because they are here among us. Practical evidence: I am sure that all of you (even those who can’t stand gypsies) are interested in knowing something about STAYING HEALTHY and FOOD. You will see that even an old Roma grandmother can teach us something. THAT’S THE FIRST REASON. The second is that this family, who live nearby today (possibly with something to teach us), tomorrow are somewhere else teaching someone else. The third point, which is just as interesting, is GAINING SOMETHING (you as much as Maria and her family). We are not asking for charity but for shared respect.
