GIANT JACK desperately wants a friend but the other children at Jack’s school only see his enormous size and not the special boy he is. That is, until one day Jack becomes poorly and cannot go to school. All the children soon miss Jack terribly and realise what a wonderful person Jack really is! Instead of just one friend he ends up with a whole school full of them! This is an inspiring story especially written with an underlying message for young children to enjoy. As with all the Beamish Books this book also has simple questions at the end that children love to answer.

"Gentle Jack" This is a beautiful children’s storybook, which deals with prejudice within school, The story is told in such a way that the message is clear but not overpowering. The ending is really sweet too. I would highly recommend this book especially for children who are starting a new school or feel isolated at school.

"Gentle Jack" I am a childminder and I bought this book especially for the children I look after, they absolutely loved the story and it bought about issues of differences in children that I could talk about with the children. I hope there will be a second book of Gentle Jack. The children also found the questions at the end of the book fun. I would strongly recommend this book to other chilcminders.
