I have just read Mrs. Toney's book and was thoroughly entertained. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys reading about life in small southern towns. She captured the times during that era exactly as I remember as a young boy. I encourage everyone to take a leisurely afternoon and read It Was What It Was. Mrs. Toney is a wonderful storyteller. I cannot wait to read what comes next.

I read Diane Haley Toney’s book in one sitting the day it arrived. It Was What It Was is an interesting and true version of small town life in Georgia in the 50’s. She captured the innocence of life as it was in that era, and I loved her honesty and writing style. I highly recommend this book and will pass it on to my children and grandchildren.
