Hugely moving, bravely honest, and totally sincere account of a mother's anguish and pain in the immediate days and weeks, and years after her son's suicide. Written with wit and elegance that puts you directly inside her mind and the horror of her experience, peppered with her own poems that give another perspective on her pain. The first page had me in bits, like the saddest film you've ever seen but worse because you know this isn't a Hollywood blockbuster, it's a real woman going through every mother's worst nightmare. The book is a genuine expression of grief without being too emotive, or sensational in anyway, written with a poignant openness and transparency and the clear intention of helping others in this unthinkable predicament, as well as being as way of helping herself deal with her thoughts and emotions. Helpful for anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one, but especially for those who have lost loved ones to suicide. Highly recommended. Well done Diane!
