"Reviewed by Rod Newkirk, VA3ZBB/W9BRD" Each HI HI page is a careful study in itself. Any true ham with the slightest sense of humor should want it for his or her library. Betty's chuckles were S9+.
"Had me rolling in laughter..." Thank you for creating your wonderful collection of ham radio cartoons. I couldn't put it down. You had me rolling in laughter! Your cartoons are so full of details and so insightfully relevant that every ham will find himself in some of them. Thanks for your contribution to the lighter side our wonderful hobby -- this surely will be your legacy. I'm going to share the laughs with my fellow hams here at MFJ. 73s, Martin, K5FLU Martin F. "HI HI - Review as published in "Break In", organ of NZART" Hi Hi – A collection of ham radio cartoons - By Dick Sylvan W9CBT Published by Sylvan Design Associates Ltd - 2005 Soft cover 111 pp ISBN 1-4116-619-8 For the past few years the Amateur Radio Club in Chicago, IL has published an excellent free E-Magazine entitled K9YA Telegraph. One of the regular features has been a series of cartoons on radio topics by Dick Sylvan W9CBT. Dick is a long-time amateur and he retired in 2004 after a career as an industrial designer. The combination of these and Dick’s obvious quirky sense of humour has resulted in an entertaining collection of cartoons that previously appeared in the Telegraph. Dick has managed to cover much of hamdom’s jargon and phrases. “Break In” gets special attention! The original cartoons appeared in colour but their reproduction in monochrome in no way detracts from their enjoyment. This booklet is highly recommended as a great present for yourself... More > or a ham friend. It is available through the Internet through the K9YA Web site at www.k9ya.org/w9cbt at the modest price of $10.95 plus freight. The well-packed book arrived very quickly after ordering. Ralph Sutton ZL2AOH< Less
"Full of laughs!" I loved this book! It's chocked full of laughs. The cartoons are very inventive and darn funny. You can see how Rube Goldberg was an inspiration for many of the author's ideas. In fact you don't even need to be a ham radio operator to get enjoy this book. What a treat!
