I came across two books by chance this week. The first was 'nor meekly serve my time' and the second 'Faoi Ghlas'. Both books give first hand accounts of life in long kesh for the POWs. The latter Faoi Ghlas was a bit of light relief as The author gives a light hearted account of his time in the Crum and H Bocks. This is not to say that there are not aspects of the book that remind the reader of the harsh reality faced by Dominic and his comrades on a daily basis. I read the book in one sitting and felt strongly enough about the quality of the book to write my first ever review to encourage others to read it. Also I must say as someone who visited their da in long kesh it shed some light on what life was like for him at the time.

Fascinating, often funny and always intimate account of the realities of the H Blocks. This book is filled with anecdotes that provide a first hand picture of everyday life of republican prisoners, but it's the humanity of the book and the belly laughs it gives that stands out. Fantastic read.
