The 19th-century French canonist Dominique Bouix published a whole slew of learned canonical treatises in a general series titled Institutiones Canonicæ, dealing with topics such as the Pope, councils, bishops, parishes, the Roman Curia, and canon law in general. is present work is his treatise on liturgical law, and is divided into five parts treating of: 1° the nature and dogmatic value of liturgy; 2° the legitimate source of liturgical law; 3° what in fact has been the exercise of legislative power regarding liturgy from the beginnings of the Church up till the present day (for this edition, 1873); 4° modern liturgical law; and 5° the liturgies of France which differ from the Roman liturgy.
