The story of the two years of preparation and 38 days of travel required to move a family of 7 children, two screech owls, three dogs, two uncles, and two cousins from Northeastern Ohio to Wasilla, Alaska in the Matanuska Valley. The trip was made in two vehicles, a 1949 Lincoln sedan, and a 1947 Ford 1 1/2 Ton truck pulling a four wheeled homemade "camper". Ages of the children ranged from 2 to 15.

I have read this book before, this was written by my wife's cousin. She is also from Ohio. Perry County that is. I actually felt like I was on that trip with them, the book is so detailed and also funny. What was nice was when you would read the different names as they come up. ( I could place the names from my wife's stories about them ) I would suggest this book to anyone who would like to take an old fashioned trip. Tom D
"Very Interesting Book" I am married to the oldest son of Mr. Carney's cousin, Lee Ann Carney Harris, eldest daughter of his uncle Fred. I recognized several of the characters in the book. It was very entertaining to read, My father-in-law purchased the book for all of his children, I am going to pass it around to some of the cousins mentioned within the pages of the book.
