Although Emily's Castle is listed as a Children's book, this adult loved it. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. Emily is such an engaging character, I wanted to find out what she would do next. I found myself cheering her on during her adventures. I was at the point of tears a couple of times during the book- but I don't want to give away the plot. Emily's Castle is a well written Inspirational story that has just the right blend of adventure and excitement. It is also the story of Emily's Faith which is tested and tried. The story weaves between Emily's outer adventurous life, and her inner Spiritual life and I believe the author does it just right The setting is Coastal Northern California, complete with lighthouse, beaches and sea lions. The descriptions are very well done. The characters are well drawn, with vivid details that bring them to life. The plot has some nice twists, but is not so complicated one can not understand what is going on. I would strongly... More > recommend this book for children. Many adults would like it too.< Less

Once I started reading this book, there was no stopping until I reached the end. And I'm over 60 years of age. This book brought me back to my childhood when I would spend hours and hours at the local library reading so many books. My world revolved around books and stories that I could get lost in. This book has this same level of interest and intrigue. I believe that young people who are looking for refreshing and uplifting stories will thoroughly enjoy it. It's good to see that there are still authors that want to promote decent, moral and uplifting books to our young people. The writing style is very good. There is enough dialogue mixed with explanation so that one can easily follow the story without getting bogged down. It has a great beginning that makes one want to find out what is going to happen next and how it will end up. The greatest achievement is when a person wants to follow a story through rather than looking to the end first to find out what ultimately happens. I... More > highly recommend it.< Less

The first part that I was aloud to reead was wonderful. It held your attention and really allowed you to invision what was happening in the set of the story. Emily was turning out to be an interesting character that I definetly wanted to know more about. It was great and I can't wait to finish the book to find out about Emily and the rest of her life.
