A PLACE CALLED MEMORY

ByDON RATZLOFF

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
“A Place Called Memory” is a fictional story based on my recollections of my grandfather as well as comments passed on by my uncle. The story starts in a small Kansas town. His family has done all they can do to keep him in his own home as long as possible. In his own way, he puts up a last ditch effort to stay at home. He is a stubborn man but finally is convinced to make the move. After a visit by a grandson, he mentally slips away back to his childhood home and recounts the events of his life. The story follows his persecutions for being a teenager in Poland during the political unrest just before the turn of the twentieth century. He encounters a young lady, Katherine, at a church social whom he had only casually known previously. Their relationship builds from that point.
