Review of the novel “Willy Goes Wild” (2010) Willy Jecker is an unhappy ad man working in New York City. He is dissatisfied with both his personal and professional situation but unsure how to change it. Willy promises his dying uncle that he will do something “meaningful” with his life. He resolves to open himself to new experiences and through a series of coincidences and chance-met acquaintances he gets some useful advice. When his employer lands a new advertising account, Willy is sent west to the Rockies to meet the owners of an unusual business and develop an ad campaign for them. The people and places he encounters on this trip will change Willy and his life forever. The book is very readable, the prose is smooth and the dialogue is natural. Author Donald Murie is adept at keeping the reader’s interest and you will want to keep reading to see what happens in the next chapter. The author’s parents and uncle were noted environmentalists and Donald Murie does a great job of... More > interweaving ecology themes into Willy’s search for greater meaning. If you enjoy this book, you will want to read Donald Murie’s other novels, including “Sally” and “Shaper” which are available from Amazon and from< Less
