Controversy surrounded Charleston, WV after Mayor Danny Jones ordered Tent City to be dismantled on the coldest day of the year; several members of the community took measures to help the local encampment residents. Kshir, Roberts and Tornerup penned several heart felt chapters and poems based off several Tent City residents personal experiences and those of Andrew Palmer, the creator of "West Virginia's Most Wanted" and local man who was once homeless himself, who helped local encampment residents get off the streets and into The House of Hope. The book features several guest writers; Rev. Darick J. Biondi and Papa Don; and poet (Warren Van Gaasbeck) who share their opinions, views and personal bouts with helping the homeless.

This book looks deep into the homeless crisis in Charleston, West Virginia. The books tells the aftermath when mayor Danny Jones ordered Tent City to be dismantled on the coldest day of the year. The book invites the reader to join the community in their journey through various short stories through personal experiences of becoming homeless, living in Tent City, personal heartache, tragedy, loss and assisting those in need. The book features several guest writers (Terry Rink, Rev. Darick J. Biondi & Papa Don) and poets (Warren Van Gaasbeck). Each writer's point of view held my interest from the first to the last page. Well done!

REVIEWER: Vickie Walker via SHEDDING LIGHT ON THE HOMELESS This book brings awareness to our Homeless situation and how critical it has become. It can help you understand how and why so many people become Homeless. The focus is on Tent City after the Mayor had it dismantled on the coldest day of the year but our Homeless problem surpasses Tent City by the 100's! Yes I said 100's of our citizens are homeless! The Tent City/House of Hope Project is a new beginning not just for the displaced Tent City residents but every Homeless Man, Woman and Child in our community! We must make changes! We have to come together as a community and work to help every Homeless person we can even if it's one person at a time. There will be those we can't help but even if they choose to remain Homeless we must still have compassion for them. Help feed and clothe them. Pray for them and love them because we are all God's children and He wants us to love one another. Open your eyes and your heart... More > to a very real and critical problem in our society and in our very own City. Sometimes the smallest act of kindness can help and change someone's life. Source -< Less
