This story was created with understanding and love and will inspire children with albinism and other visual challenges to "wear" sunglasses. I often wonder how Pema is doing now-6 years later. When we met her that bright and beautiful sunny morning, November 11, the King's birthday, we could not have imagined the beautiful telling of this tale and the coming together of three women-Pema, Dorian Weatherly-White and me and the hope that this story inspires. Seeing the black cranes was magic, meeting Pema, well, a world apart and yet sisters. My hope is that she is still watching the Black Cranes as they winter in her valley.
