A year is the time it takes the earth to travel once around the sun. Years ago, people struggled with how to divide up a years of 365 days. People living in the Middle East made up the 7 day week and the 12 month year. They gave each of these date names based on “stars” they could see. They believed the stars had power over people’s lives.
Seven day weeks and twelve month years based on star names spread west to Greece and Rome and east to Asia.
