    Andrew Jackson Splawn is my grandfather and Lallooh Splawn Carpenter is my mother. While there are some accurate historical facts in this short book, the majority of it is inaccurate. Example: My grandfather's father died before A.J. Splawn came by wagon train from Missouri to Oregon. Kind of makes you wonder who was "this father" that gave him all this advice. Example: A.J. Splawn and his Indian friend were not playmates as "toddlers." Example: My grandfather's ancestors were from Ireland and had no Native American roots. Example: My grandfather was never called "Jackie" but was called Jack - even as an infant and young man. I would like to hear from this author and learn from him where he got his informtion. My grandfather wrote a book called "Ka-mi-akin - The Last Hero of the Yakimas" in which he outlines his relationship with the Indian girl Lallooh. As I stated above, there are some historically accurate facts in this short book by Douglas... More > Blocker, but a far more accurate and first-hand account of the life and times of that period (and about A.J. Splawn's relationship with Lallooh) is found in my grandfather's book. This book by Douglas Blocker takes a bit of history and wraps fiction around it. Perhaps that is no different than what is done by many authors, but it does have personal significance to me.< Less
