Dr. Dan and Kate Montgomery write, "Your personality matters to Christ." This simple but profound statement is the cornerstone of "The Self Compass: Charting Your Personality In Christ." Through identifying problem personality patterns and showing how they can affect both your own and others' lives, this book gives the reader many concrete ideas about dealing with these patterns. True change will occur only if Christ's help and strength is sought along the way. The book is written with warmth and personal disclosures from the authors. An interesting cast of characters is shown working through their problem patterns. In all, a breakthrough book that sees personality change as a spiritual as well as psychological matter.

The Montomery Self Compass is easy to understand and apply. It approaches personality in user-friendly terms (the LAWS of personality: Love and Assertion; Weakness and Strength), yet has layers deep enough to satisfy mental health professionals. You learn how much your personality matters to Christ and find specific ways to outgrown limitations. With a lively style that keeps you turning the pages, the book is a must read for those who want a fresh take on how to transform their personality and relationships. Raymond D. Anderson, Ph.D., M.Th., LPCC, LADAC

This book is so practical that you can chart your own personality by Chapter Three, and then take specific steps for self-improvement in Chapters Four through Fourteen. I like how fast the book reads and how the authors connect with the reader to make everything come alive. Now that I understand the Self Compass, I use it every day to take good care of myself, and to handle some relationships that used to frustrate me. I never knew that psychology and spirituality could be put together in such a valuable way.
