His name is Jim Solum, but we all know him as Water Polo Planet's "The Shot Doctor." Jim's new book, "Science of Shooting," focuses on an aspect of the game that we all take for granted, and that is the shot. But it's not JUST the standard baseball shot. Jim breaks the borders of the water polo world and brings to his readers the secrets of European, specifically Hungarian, shot techniques that for the longest time have been unknown to those outside their system and have elevated the Hungarian Teams to numerous World and Olympic championships. We all hear the coaches yell about not throwing skip shots because they are unpredictable. But if you read Jim's book, he breaks down everything you need to know about executing the basic skip shot to become quite deadly with it. Then he goes on even further to explain more Euro variations of them in order to get a skip shot to do near unimaginable things. As it says in Jim's book, "The skip shot is math and mechanics,... More > not magic." Additionally, some have said that, "...from a physiology point of view, Jim Solum is revolutionary." It's not just the arm that's doing the work, but the whole body, and Jim's book explains all physical aspects of the body as it relates to the shot and even quantifies reduced speed based on poor technique and mechanics. Jim Solum's book, "Science of Shooting," is a MUST HAVE for any coach and player out there as it is one of the best contributions to the sport of water polo to date. It's a great companion text to Dante Dettamanti's "Practical Guide to Coaching Water Polo." Dante tells you the tactics and Jim tells you how to put it in the net. Jim Solum gives you the tools to bring every players shooting abilities to the next level and beyond. It's one of the few volumes that EVERY coach AND player should have on their desk as they pursue excellence in the sport of water polo.< Less
