“Allegory of the Cave” is a parable used by the Greek philosopher Plato in his work The Republic (You can find the full Book VII at the end of this guide). It is as a fictional dialogue between Plato's teacher Socrates and Plato's brother Glaucon. This story has been the source of many very successful science-fiction movies and stories.
