This story is based on real events involving real people. It is not an historical account, rather a story about one young man’s experience of war-like service in Australia’s modern Defence Forces. The story is set in Timor in the mid 1970’s, against the backdrop of the Indonesian invasion and the annexation of the former Portugese colony, the murder of the five Australian and New Zealand journalists, by person or persons unknown , in the township of Balibo The Australian Government has deployed a Task Force of Iroquois helicopters, to be based in Dili, to locate and repatriate Australian Nationals from remote regions. Australian intelligence sources have positively identified an individual responsible for repeated and crippling attacks on the Australian FOB at Maliana, in the Central Highlands, as an Indonesian solider who appears to be supplied and supported from an unknown location south of the FOB.
