Black Woman, White Combat...from the Streets to the Sand

ByEboni Lacy

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Until now, most books about Operation Iraqi Freedom have been written by or about leaders or exceptional heroes. However, mine is from the point of view of an honorably discharged black woman lesbian combat veteran during the time of “don’t ask, don’t tell.” Because my lifestyle was frowned upon, I lived in fear of being discovered. Nevertheless, its not only those things I have mentioned that have molded me into the woman I am- but I also have divorced parents, fighting the system, getting past suicide, and surviving the world after surviving the war. It is adult in content describing how my life evolved from a girl who never forgave her dad for leaving, to the woman I am today. Besides being a story of hurt and betrayal, it is also a story of spirituality and redemption.
