EDI electronic data interchange is the technology used by all major retailers to conduct business with each other using electronic forms like invoice and purchase order. In health care its used for electronic claims processing between insurance companies, hospitals, doctors offices and government. Its origins formed during the early days of the shipping in the 80s to keep track of products in transit.
