""For The Love Of Monsters": A shiver looking for a spine to crawl up..." So it's 1 in the morning and you're having trouble falling asleep. You reach for this book, thinking you'll read yourself to sleep. Oops. This book will keep your eyes open until dawn, jumping at every little noise. "For The Love Of Monsters", compiled and edited by L.B. Goddard, contains 16 of the creepiest, scariest tales from her web site "The Monsters Next Door" ( Want to know how a vampire who went through a postmortem feels? In the story "Someone To Talk To", one will tell you...But you'd better listen. The tale of the "Teddy Bear Picnic" will make you want to put your teddy bear in a box and bury him at a crossroads at midnight with a stake through his heart, just in case. You thought Hannibal Lecter was evil? Wait until you make the acquaintance of "The Pretender". This anthology also proves horror can... More > have humor and still present disturbing images. Don't believe me? Well, get the low-down on what zombies worry about in "Unnerving Presence", or the trials and tribulations of being a vampire in "Life With Fangs". Who knew monsters could have it tough? There are many more great stories in this anthology, but I don't want to spoil ALL the surprises! There is also some beautifully rendered, high-creep-factor black-and-white artwork by Jeff Bartrand, a.k.a Dr. Twistid, that complements all the stories and adds a perfect grace note to the book. If you order the book, you'll receive a high quality publication. This is NOT some floppy 'zine published by a group of 14 year-olds in someone's mom's basement on printer paper and stapled in the upper left corner. The heavy card-stock cover has gorgeous artwork. The paper is good-quality, heavy-bond stock. The binding is tight, durable, and professionally done. If you prefer, you can download the on-line version and get the great stories, excellent artwork, and tons of shivers on your monitor. Either way, you'll enjoy this anthology of horror. So, all snuggled in? Comfy? Ready for a nice story to send you off to Sweet Dreamland? Too bad "For The Love Of Monsters" won't send you there. It doesn't cure nightmares, it causes them. But it's too late to turn back now! Let's start with a story about a rose garden...< Less
