Stoneprint Journal 5: The culture code in seals and ring stamps

ByEdmond Furter

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The Pylos Combat agate, and the larger work that similar variant seals in the same styling were probably copied from (including finely detailed muscle texture), does not illustrate constellations. Other seals of this scene are even more minimalist, with only two characters, and not expressing the structuralist detail that this master carver subconsciously expressed. However these devices arise from art, not astronomy. Constellation characters arise from calendric myth (as their names in all cultures indicate), not the other way around. Mindprint numbers and zodiac labels are archetypal. This edition illustrates 30 examples from many cultures.
