Woodshed

ByEdouard Sooh

To the undiscerning, Rally is a quintessential kid born and raised in the rural town of Vida, Oregon. In a bittersweet act of love and cruelty, Rally’s conception signals the imminent demise of his parents, whom both contract a fatal lung disease from the chemical laden wood they hand crafted into woodsheds for the towns' inhabitants. Once the young, orphaned Rally is taken in by a Native American couple, it doesn’t take long for his deep connection with Mother Nature, ingrained from birth, to manifest. Now a teenager, Rally discovers the very chemical that killed his parents is also being added to the drugs that are crippling the towns meth addicts in a different but no less lethal manner. As a testament to his parents' legacy, and armed with nothing but a few loyal friends and yet unharnessed power to manipulate trees around him, Rally decides to go straight to the source, local lumber yard owner, Sanford Smith, and expose him for what he is.
