Poetry’s oldest and most important root is rhythm. Without rhythm, poetry is not possible; with enough rhythm, poetry becomes song. The following pages are a collision of verse and song written consciously enough to be read effectively as poems but also sung just as easily as songs. The melodic tones should be visible though not striking. The familiar forms should appear as the writings of a lyricist, but be absorbed as the creativity only a poet can produce. The themes will range from the words of an intoxicated lover, to a hollowed out man and from a contemporary maniac to a charismatic wanderer. These are my voices and this is my tribute to the sacred rhythm of poetry.
