In this landmark doctrinal discourse given by Elder Joseph E. Taylor in 1890, the differing duties of the various offices of the Priesthood are layed out in a clear and precise manner. Discussed is not only the office of Apostle, of which the Quorum of the Twelve and the Quorum of the Seventy are a part of, but also the offices of Patriarch, Bishop, Elder, High Priest, and the Aaronic Priesthood offices.
There is quoted an article from 1873 which reports that President Brigham Young organized a Quorum of Seven which stood higher in rank than did the Quorum of the Twelve. Additionally, there are quotes on the Apostleship, on the Apostleship of the Seventy (something which is not generally understood today), the relationship of the Seventy and High Priest, and the fulness of the Priesthood.
Another fine product from The FIG Project. Dedicated to disseminating interesting & hard-to-find discourses, writings, reproductions, and original rare items from the early days of the LDS (Mormon) Church.
