"THE NOTEBOOKS OF MICHAEL MABIUS" Elia Katz was born in New York City. He attended The Bronx High School of Science, and The Johns Hopkins University. His non-fiction novel Armed Love has been published in many languages, and his book Stengrow's Dad has acquired a rabid cult following. He is an award-winning television writer, having written for such shows as Hill Street Blues and Simon & Simon. He created and produced the ground-breaking cable series Authors on Videotape, once the most-watched series on cable TV. With his brother, Fred Katz, he invented the first system for backing up computer files via the Internet, called NetBack. Living in Los Angeles, Katz is making a series of very personal, some might say "strange," underground films, and working on his next novel. ELIA KATZ’s previous books include: ARMED LOVE: "An important book… memorable and sad…" -- Russell Baker, The New York Times “Clarity, humor, wit, integrity and a passionate... More > empathy with the seekers of his generation mark this book by a brilliant writer… Katz’s book is both corrosively funny and serious, and reads with… verve and immediacy.” -- Publishers Weekly "The level of sustained intelligence is truly pleasurable to behold." -- Rolling Stone STENGROW'S DAD: "A masterpiece…the Huck Finn for the new millenium. Not since Mark Twain has there been an American fable of such wit and huge imagination!" -- Donald Freed "A young man's search for his True Dad leads him on a series of bizarre and comic misadventures in a nightmarish American landscape… A clever, deadpan commentary on modern America…" -- Publishers Weekly "Katz has spilled out a dark, extremely funny fable of love and government suppression." -- Stan Friedman, Small Press Magazine< Less
