Dog Park Etiquette for Off-Leash Parks

ByElizabeth Danner

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Dog Park etiquette, the do's and don'ts for dog park survival. Dog parks are a big thing now and a great place to meet other dog lovers. It is also a great place to socialize your dog, but you need to realize that when it comes to a person's pet, that person can be very protective and sensitive about how their dog is treated by anyone else. This is where you will see people go from crazy to crazier in a heartbeat. If something is said in the wrong way, or misconstrued, tempers will flare and words will fly. I believe that if everyone follows this guide and respects one another, they can have a great time at the dog park. I have been taking my dog Max to the dog park since he was 6 months old, he is now 12½ years, and it is still his happy place. He still gets excited to go. Dogs love to socialize and meet their own kind, and they enjoy it more if their owner is relaxed, having a good time, and more involved with them. When you're at the dog park, this is their special time to spend with you.
